Beirut, Lebanon – November 2016: In the occasion of its 15th anniversary, Advanced Car Rental is closely collaborating with the Lebanon Reforestation Initiative (LRI), a program funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and implemented by the United States Forest Service (USFS), to start a long-term green initiative, the “Carbon Free Journey”, launched in November 15th in the presence of media representatives and environmental activists.
Aiming to reduce the CO2 emission of its cars to the minimum, Advanced Car Rental makes the first step of its “Carbon Free Journey” by turning a quarry in Jbaa, Chouf, into a 20-hectare forest, by planting 16,000 diverse native tree seedlings. By the latter project, Advanced Car Rental is contributing to the expansion of the cedar forests in the Shouf Biosphere Reserve, the safe shelter for birds and animals, and offsetting tons of its cars’ CO2 emission over the three coming years.
Shady Younis, sales manager of Advanced Car Rental said on the occasion: “We decided to celebrate our 15th year anniversary differently this year, by starting a long-term green plan, aiming to reduce the CO2 emission of our cars to zero in the next years, and our reforestation project in Shouf is only the beginning of our commitment, for we are planning to incorporate the ecofriendly culture into the minds of our team members, partners and customers over the coming years, giving them the chance to believe that each individual has the power to make a difference.”
Maya Nehme, Project Director of Lebanon Reforestation Initiative on the occasion: “We are very enthusiastic to announce our partnership with Advanced Car Rental on their green initiative. Our joint efforts will contribute to the restoration of a sand quarry in Jbaa by planting 16,000 native tree seedlings, thus reducing tons of CO2 from the air every year. This partnership will help increase environmental awareness nationally and will contribute to increasing Lebanon’s green cover.
Members of Advanced Car Rental family, along with friends and partners of the brand will join the LRI team on the 27th of November for a planting day in Jbaa, where every individual will get the chance to plant trees and contribute to the success of the “Carbon Free Journey”.
