In collaboration with the Lebanon Reforestation Initiative (LRI), a project funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and implemented by the United States Forest Service (USFS), Baladi Plus, also funded by the USAID, organized a workshop entitled “Project Cycle Management and Proposal Writing,” on August 30 and 31, 2013, with the participation of the Lebanese Transparency Association (LTA).
Representatives of municipalities and municipal unions from various provinces (mohafazat) of Lebanon attended the event. The workshop’s main aim was to enable the participating municipalities to efficiently manage their projects through strategic planning and priority setting. More importantly, the workshop provided the participants with skills necessary to design and manage vital development projects, increasing their chances of obtaining funding for their implementation.
The workshop falls within the framework of strengthening the institutional capacity of municipalities and mentoring them, based on their identified needs to improve their project proposal writing and management skills, and thus contributing to rural development.
The main objective of Baladi Plus is to help municipalities facilitate implementation of local development projects and allow them to better manage their resources through close cooperation with USAID/Lebanon's BALADI Program . Through the Baladi Plus project, municipalities will be well prepared to develop and submit development project applications that are well-drafted and designed to meet local citizens needs.
